Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 29, 2026

At btcountr, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices concerning the handling of user data.

Data Collection and Storage

btcountr is designed with privacy at its core. We collect minimal data necessary to provide our service:

  • App preferences and settings (display theme, update frequency, haptic feedback, sound effects, live activities)
  • CloudKit user identifier (for syncing preferences across your devices via iCloud)
  • Subscription status (to validate access to premium features)
  • Usage metrics (session count, price updates viewed - stored locally only)
  • Device information (for compatibility purposes through CloudKit/iCloud)

Your preferences are stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. When you sign in to iCloud, your preferences are automatically synced across your devices using Apple's CloudKit service. We do not require account creation or personal information to use btcountr - the app works fully without an iCloud account, though syncing across devices requires iCloud sign-in.

App Analytics

btcountr does not currently collect analytics data. All analytics tracking has been disabled. We do not use third-party analytics services to track your usage or behavior.

Subscription and Payment Data

When you purchase a subscription or make an in-app purchase, the payment processing is handled entirely by the App Store through StoreKit. We do not store your payment information. We only maintain necessary subscription status information to validate your access to premium features.

Subscription management is handled by Superwall, a third-party service that manages paywall presentation and subscription lifecycle. Superwall tracks subscription status and purchase events to provide subscription management services. Payment data is processed securely through the App Store, and we do not have access to your credit card or payment details.

Data Sync and CloudKit

If you sign in to iCloud, btcountr uses Apple's CloudKit service to sync your preferences across your devices. This includes your theme selection, feature toggles (haptics, sounds, live activities), and subscription status. CloudKit sync is optional - the app functions fully without iCloud sign-in, but syncing requires an active iCloud account.

CloudKit data is stored in your personal iCloud container and is subject to Apple's privacy policies. We do not have direct access to your CloudKit data - it is managed by Apple's infrastructure.

Bitcoin Price Data

btcountr fetches Bitcoin price information from third-party APIs (CoinGecko and Coinbase). We do not send any personal information or user data to these services. Only the Bitcoin price request is made - no identifying information is transmitted.

Data Usage

The limited data we collect is used to:

  • Provide and maintain the btcountr service
  • Display accurate Bitcoin price information
  • Sync your preferences across devices (when iCloud is enabled)
  • Improve app functionality and user experience
  • Validate subscription access to premium features

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. The only third-party services we use are:

  • Apple CloudKit: For syncing preferences across devices (only if you sign in to iCloud)
  • Superwall: For subscription management and paywall presentation
  • CoinGecko/Coinbase: For Bitcoin price data (no user data is sent)

These services operate under their own privacy policies and terms of service.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Secure connections (HTTPS) for fetching price data
  • Local storage of preferences on your device
  • CloudKit encryption for synced data
  • Regular security updates and monitoring

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use btcountr.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access information about data we collect
  • Request deletion of any stored data (you can delete your account data through the app settings)
  • Opt-out of CloudKit sync by signing out of iCloud
  • Withdraw consent for data processing at any time

To delete your data, you can use the account deletion feature in the app settings, which will remove all locally stored preferences and CloudKit synced data.

Changes to Privacy Policy

Users will be notified of any changes to this privacy policy via in-app notifications or updates to this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any updates.
